Jack's Words by Nancy Lessard

Jack’s Words by Nancy Lessard

Greater Lowell artists Jean Curley, Rachel Elmaleh, Janet Lambert-Moore, Nancy Lessard, Priscilla Levesque, Richard Marion and David Phaneuf used a variety of media and styles to create the art exhibit “Visions of Jack Kerouac’s Road.” The works of art reflect images from Kerouac’s novels, his personal journeys over land and sea, and his love for jazz and his cats.

Kerouac’s Lowell roots are reflected in the works of Richard Marion and David Phaneuf. Rachel Elmaleh created images in acrylic illustrating the the world of jazz and New York which Kerouac loved. Priscilla Levesque created land and seascapes of Cape Cod in casein. Jean Curley and Janet Lambert-Moore bring the viewer back to Lowell and the ending of Kerouac’s life with their images of somber Lowell sunsets and graveside views. Lambert-Moore also created an image of the Kerouac Commemorative on Bridge Street where Lowell Celebrates Kerouac will soon be celebrating the 30th anniversary of its dedication. The exhibit was curated by Judith Bessette, President of Lowell Celebrates Kerouac!

Call ahead to view the exhibition.

Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through November. Call 978-970-1600 for more information.
