Volunteer Philanthropic Award

Our annual Volunteer Philanthropy in Action Awards honor individuals and organizations who have given their time and talents to improve the quality of life in our region. Through the award, we seek to recognize the unique importance of volunteer efforts in our community.

Youth and Adult Volunteer Award

Each year, we select two individuals - one 25 years old or younger, and one over 25 years of age to each receive an award. We present the awards at our annual Celebrate Giving Event and highlight the honorees and their accomplishments in media releases, and provide each with a gift of $1,000 to be given in their name to charity of their choice.

We invite you to review the selection criteria and nominate individuals you think make a difference in our community.

Selection Criteria

The selection committee looks for the following characteristics in nominated individuals:

  • The nominee will be recognized for achievement in a specific significant project, or for the cumulative effect of the contribution of a substantial amount of time and effort to respond to neighborhood or community needs.
  • The nominee's contribution must have measurable impact, either current or long term, to demonstrate that he/she has really "made a difference" and has an ongoing commitment to the community.
  • The nominee's creativity, cooperation with other groups and individuals, and utilization of existing resources, such as neighborhood or school networks will be considered where applicable.

The award may also be given posthumously in honor of a community member, with the monetary gift distributed according to the wishes of the honoree's family.
